Liège Waffles
1. Prepare the base mixture
Mix the flour, vanilla sugar and salt in a large bowl. Make a fountain and crack the eggs in the center.
2. Add milk and yeast
Mix the yeast with the lukewarm milk, then add it to the flour and egg mixture. Mix until you obtain a fairly compact paste.
3. Initial rest time
Let the dough rest for 30 minutes at room temperature, away from drafts.
4. Add the butter and sugar
Add the melted butter and pearl sugar to the dough, then mix well. Let sit for another 20 to 30 minutes (or up to 1 hour 30 minutes for best results).
5. Cooking waffles
Place a tablespoon of batter in the center of the preheated waffle plates. Let them cook until they are nicely browned.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Calories: Around 300 kcal per waffle
Tips
For an even better taste, add a little cinnamon or orange zest to the dough.
Serve with maple syrup or fresh fruit for an even more delicious dessert!
